East London IDZ releases impressive annual results
The proactive review of its targeting strategy and the consolidation of its value proposition helped the East London Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) to continue attracting investors despite the global economic recession.
Announcing the IDZ’s 2008/2009 annual results chief executive officer Simphiwe Kondlo says while most companies were hard hit by the recession, the zone responded to the economic downturn by consolidating its value proposition around innovative customer needs. This helped the IDZ continue on its positive investor-attraction path.
The story of Fusion Office Automation - a true blue entrepreneurial one...
In 2005 Jason van der Walt and Andrew Gardner (two East Londoners educated at Selborne College – but living in Jhb at the time) were both clawing their way up the corporate ladder, both were enjoying very promising careers with one of the large SA banks when out of the blue an opportunity in a totally different field came buy.
Jason was offered a franchise opportunity with a young office automation company which was desperately looking for suitable partners to grow their brand in the Eastern Cape. When Jason was mulling over possible partners for the venture, Andrew was an automatic choice, as Andrew and Jason both had indicated a willingness to move back to the Eastern Cape, but only when the right opportunity arose.
